Joint ventures, particularly 8(a) joint ventures, can be a great way for experienced and novice Government contractors to partner and flourish in the Government contracts market. The success of these ventures hinges on a comprehensive understanding of the rules governing the formation and operation of these ventures however, contractors have struggled for the past several years to reconcile updated rules at the SBA with the outdated rules that still exist in the FAR. These discordant regulations have resulted in confusion and frustration for businesses of all sizes. In this webcast, we will provide a primer on successfully forming and competing for Government contract awards as a joint venture, with a particular focus on 8(a) joint ventures and proposed statutory and regulatory changes published in the Federal Register earlier this summer that are intended to reconcile the SBA and acquisition regulations. These changes have the potential to create significant opportunities for both veteran Government contractors and new entrants to the federal marketplace who might consider competing for procurements through JV agreements, and we will cover in detail the ways in which the Proposed Rule proposes to amend the FAR. This webcast will offer practical tips and guidance regarding these changes, potential pitfalls for the unwary, and suggestions for proactive engagement with the Government for businesses of all sizes.
